LORI GRAY SET FOR NATIONAL CONFERENCE

One of our own is speaking at the Nashville PRIMA Conference June 3-6, 2012 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Conference Center. Lori Gray, Risk Manager for Prince William County,  is speaking on a fascinating topic called "How to Keep Your Special Event  From Turning Into a Real Battle (How the Right Special Event Approach Can Turn A Potential Battle Into An Insignificant Skirmish)". Lori was in the middle of a major Civil War back in July with the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Bull Run (First Manassas) when her county was invaded by 10,000 re-enactors not counting tourists, vendors and media. For those attending the conference, this is a unique session you don't want to miss. The good news, bad news; the good news Lori and the county survived this extraordinary event; the bad news, the150th anniversary of Second Manassas is August 28, 2012.

Certificates of Insurance Work Shop Well Attended

Roughly 45 people attended the excellent program, "Certificates of Insurance: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" conducted by James C. Thompson, ARM with Insurance Buyers Council, Inc. The complexities of COIs are challenging particularly due to recent changes initiated by ACCORD. And as Jim noted, a COI only shows the insured limits according to their policy but provides no information regarding the insured's aggregate balance against any claims outstanding. The program was held at Pamplin History Park's Education Resource Center in Petersburg.  An outdoor picnic of fried chicken, barbecue, beans, potato salad, chips, green beans, assorted drinks and a great peach cobbler was enjoyed by all under an outdoor pavilion.
